An ambulance in a traffic jam of pleasant things is not nice!
28 March 2023 by Nicole Loeffen
Oops, at the thought of you and many others reading this soon my heart rate shoots up. It's exciting to write this stuff down like this, and yet I do it anyway, because I'm sure I'm not the only one "stuck in a traffic jam," and also that a good number of you want to think with me about how to silence my siren.
Before you read on, believe me, I am good at prioritizing and also at saying no, but I enjoy so many things and do everything I agree to wholeheartedly. And there are periods when so many nice things follow one another, there is a kind of traffic jam of so many pleasant moments in a row, without any room to maneuver, and that makes me restless. I don't suffer from the FOMO of the younger generations, I'm 55 and I don't do anything I don't feel like doing. Well, except for the weekly grocery shopping, tax returns and marketing activities.
I enjoy everything in the moment, it's meaningful and energizes me. But it bothers me that I regularly run out of slots in the full weekday schedule to spontaneously spar with a client, take a walk with a friend or just do nothing during the day.
That feels like being stuck, unable to move forward or backward. As if I'm in a traffic jam and can't move aside to give way to the ambulance with flashing lights behind me.
For those who are curious what's in my traffic jam of fun:
- Loyal clients, who give me a lot of energy and inspiration in addition to financial security.
- Writing, for me the way to give words to feelings and inspire others.
- Self-development, this year the EnergyDrives certification and Personal Leadership at 'Sporen'.
- Live meetings, which take more time but sometimes really work better than remote.
- Making beautiful trips, where I like to combine work and home.
- Offering Being on Mission Experiences, because they always set something in motion that leads to greater happiness and success.
And who doesn't want the last one, more happiness and success? There really should be a traffic jam towards that. Especially since I have seen what it has set in motion in hundreds of previous participants worldwide. But unfortunately, people often choose a better known training with an established name like Nyenrode or De Baak. I intend to break that pattern by giving Being on Mission a serious place in the leadership landscape.
What about the ambulance with the sirens blaring?", you're probably asking yourself. It's my tough job to do all kinds of marketing activities for Being on Mission in between. They always demand priority and are never done. I am a damn good coach but not a marketing person, the last takes energy from me, but I can't avoid it when competing against the big names with huge marketing departments.
'Why ambulance, it's not a necessity after all; no lives depend on it,' you may be thinking now.
Take the easy way out, earn your money comfortably with what comes naturally to you and go hiking with your friends. And yes, rationally I know you're right, there's no need.
But my heart has been addicted for a few years now to the jumps it makes every time we see the 'aha' moment happening in the other person, causing them to switch from 'survival mode' to 'living your own life to the fullest'. By buying a chambe d'hote, switching to a more meaningful job, asking your great love to marry you, starting to see your business as one of your children which immediately frees up attention and love for the other real children, stepping into your boss's job or taking a sabbatical to travel the world.
And I don't know about you, but I like to follow my heart. My heart thinks it's time to share this with you. So, hereby I ask you to be alert and think with me about who I can engage in conversation with about Being on Mission, because I do enjoy doing that.
I am looking for people who want to listen to their hearts to become happier and more successful. I'm looking for teams who want to tap into their present potential more fully than they do now. Is this you or do you know them? Then don't call the national emergency number 112 but just me: 0031612583916. Share this blog, reshare the post and comment!
